Man Utd look set for a busy summer as speculation this weekend has added Everton ace Ross Barkley and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney to their shopping list.
Jose Mourinho will be expected to significantly bolster his squad further this summer, with his side still struggling to make the Premier League top four despite the arrivals of the likes of Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan last summer.
According to The Mirror, Barkley now forms part of his transfer plans as after failing to sign him while in charge at Chelsea two years ago, the Portuguese tactician is ready to swoop again as the England international continues to have his contract troubles at Goodison Park.
The 23-year-old has just over a year left on his current deal, with the Mirror adding that Everton boss Ronald Koeman has already issued him a warning over the £100,000-a-week deal on the table as he has urged him to sign it or he will be sold at the end of the season.
As the wait goes on, it has led to further speculation and while Tottenham were the early favourites to snap up the Liverpudlian, it looks as though Mourinho is ready to offer stiff competition to bolster his midfield options at Man Utd.
It’s added that Wayne Rooney’s touted return to Everton could give the Red Devils the advantage, as the former Toffees starlet could be included in a swap deal to sweeten talks.
Meanwhile, as per the Manchester Evening News, Tierney would prefer a move to United over Tottenham as Mourinho could be forced to look for a replacement for Luke Shaw.
Having publicly ridiculed him on more than one occasion this season, the ‘Special One’ could be ready to make a change at left-back with the signing of Tierney, which in turn would allow Shaw to move on.
Spurs had been heavily linked with a move for the Celtic starlet who has impressed for the Scottish champions despite his lack of experience, as they could be forced to to replace Danny Rose if he moves to Manchester City, as noted by MEN.
However, it looks as though they could be left disappointed as the teenager is believed to want to move to Old Trafford and so Mourinho is on course for a busy summer.
