Man Utd consider huge offer to sign third Atletico Madrid ace to add to £125m raid

Man Utd are reportedly ready to swoop for another Atletico Madrid star, with Jose Mourinho said to be keen on signing Yannick Carrasco.

The Portuguese tactician seemingly likes something about Atleti, as he already raided them while in charge at Chelsea with the signings of Thibaut Courtois, Filipe Luis and Diego Costa.

Meanwhile, The Daily Star reported over the weekend that the Red Devils were lining up a £125m double swoop of the Spanish giants for Jan Oblak and Antoine Griezmann.

According to Don Balon, that isn’t where the interest ends though as the Premier League giants are also hopeful of signing Carrasco, who has continued to impress this season with 14 goals and five assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

Mourinho is keen on the Belgian international as he believes his characteristics would suit United and the English top flight well, but it remains to be seen if Diego Simeone will be able to hold on to several influential figures in his current squad this summer.

It’s added in the report that while United are ready to launch a ‘huge offer’ for the 23-year-old, but they could see their plans scuppered if they fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Winning the Europa League remains an option which in turns offers a route back to Europe’s premier competition, while their hopes of finishing in the top four in the Premier League are still alive after their impressive win over Chelsea on Sunday.

In turn, they will feel confident about reaching that objective, and it’s unlikely that it’s just Carrasco who will be adding that stipulation to any potential move to Old Trafford.
