Arsenal fans have been left far from impressed with Paddy Power’s ‘Wengerendum’ stunt, asking fans to vote ahead of the FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City at Wembley.
Arsene Wenger has faced fierce criticism from sections of supporters for some time, but it has been ramped up this season with angry protests against him.
With his contract expiring this summer, it remains to be seen whether or not he stays beyond this season but for all the banners, planes and more that we’ve seen this year, this stunt from Paddy Power is a step too far from some supporters.
The bookmakers put up ‘Wenger In’ and ‘Wenger Out’ banners up at Wembley Way, essentially asking fans to cast their vote with their feet.
It’s made worse by the fact that Paddy Power have a working relationship with the Gunners who are partnered with Betfair, who merged with PP last year.
In turn, there might be a few angry emails flying around from the club too moving forward as this hasn’t gone down well across the board.
