Tottenham face major concern as influential ace talks Barcelona move

Tottenham ace Christian Eriksen has given supporters cause for concern after he refused to rule out the possibility of a move to Barcelona.

The 25-year-old has grown into his role at Tottenham since joining the club in 2013, with last season in particular a platform for him to show his quality.

Eriksen ended the campaign with 12 goals and a staggering 23 assists in 48 appearances in all competitions for Spurs, and he has undoubtedly established himself as a key figure under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the Argentine tactician will not be too keen on these quotes, which suggest that if Barcelona come knocking, Eriksen is more than ready to listen.

“I still have a contract with Tottenham a few more years,” Eriksen is quoted as saying in Scandinavian publication Ekstra Bladet, as reported by The Independent. “There are always rumours about footballers, but Barcelona are a great club and I don’t think there are many who say no to Barcelona.”

“In the future I see myself at the highest level. That’s what I dream about. It can be in about two to three years. It may be at another club or it could be Tottenham if we have come all the way up.”

The link with Barcelona is nothing new for the Danish international, and in truth given his characteristics and style of play, it’s difficult to argue that he isn’t well suited to the Catalan giants.

Nevertheless, Tottenham will be desperate to keep him at the club for the foreseeable future as they continue to improve and fight for trophies, and Barca arguably don’t have a spot for him yet.

However, that situation could change very quickly and if Spurs aren’t able to get to the top sooner rather than later, then key players could start to question their future.
