All is not well at Chelsea, as speculation suggests that there are troubles brewing on both sides with regards to Antonio Conte and his future at the club.
The Italian tactician arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer, and guided the club to the Premier League title last season as well as to an FA Cup final.
With their return to Europe next season, the challenge is seemingly now just warming up, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, his spell at Chelsea could be coming to an end much earlier than expected.
It’s claimed that the club are unhappy with the way in which Conte dealt with the Diego Costa situation, as he sent a text to the Spaniard last week to inform him that he no longer fitted into his plans.
While that has irked the club hierarchy, Conte is said to be irritated himself as he hasn’t received the backing of the club so far this summer in terms of strengthening the squad early and preparing them for the new campaign.
All in all, it sounds like a pretty tense situation in west London, one that many Chelsea supporters will hope there is a positive end to as they simply can’t lose Conte at this stage as he’s only just starting his spell and can surely take the Blues to the next level next season.
Ultimately though, it sounds as if he’s waiting for the backing of the club in the transfer market, and if that doesn’t arrive sooner rather than later, then Chelsea could be looking for a new coach. It’s worth noting that he stepped down at Juventus at the start of pre-season in 2014, and so if things are right for him, it seems as though he has no qualms about walking away from the situation.
