Arsenal and Man City consider stunning player exchange deal, 63-goal pair to swap places

Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly weighing up a possible shock swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero this summer.

As far-fetched as the report may seem, there is some sense in the speculation. Despite scoring 33 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions last season, question marks have been raised over Aguero’s position in the starting line-up under Pep Guardiola moving forward.

Following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, the City legend had been the odd man out, and it’s unlikely that situation will change next season.

Meanwhile, Sanchez has just 12 months remaining on his contract, and with Guardiola known to be a keen admirer of his former Barcelona star, it could lead to a reunion in Manchester if the Chilean ace doesn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 28-year-old also had a great season last year, scoring 30 goals and providing 19 assists in 51 outings in total, but the wait goes on to determine whether or not he’ll commit his long-term future to Arsenal.

According to The Daily Star, discussions have been held about the pair swapping clubs this summer, with the report suggesting that it’s the perfect solution for both given the reasons mentioned above.

It would make a lot of sense on paper, but Aguero will naturally have to be convinced about a move more so than Sanchez given Arsenal’s lack of Champions League football next season having failed to finish in the top four last season.

The Gunners have been linked with the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe this summer, but perhaps the Argentine forward could be the best alternative if they fail in those pursuits. The Star are convinced that it makes perfect sense for the two Premier League giants, and it’s hard to disagree. Seeing it actually happen is a complete different story though.
