Manchester United captain set for switch to Premier League rivals

Everton are confident of signing Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney this summer, according to TalkSport.

As per TalkSport, Rooney is considering leaving United, having spent 13 years at the club, after falling down the pecking order with manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Rooney had previously stated, as reported by TalkSport, that he doesn’t want to play for another Premier League club apart from Everton, if he were to end up leaving United.

Rooney, who managed to make 25 appearances in the league last season, scoring 5 goals, only has 12 months left on his current contract with United, and sources close to the Toffees state that it looks very likely Rooney could return to the club he made his Premier League debut with 15 years ago, reports TalkSport.

If Rooney does end up leaving United for Everton this summer, it’ll definitely be interesting to see whether he commands a place in the starting line-up for Ronald Koeman’s side.
