AC Milan transfer news: €15m+ deal close, eighth signing lined up

It’s been a busy summer for AC Milan this year, but they’re not finished yet as a deal for Lazio captain Lucas Biglia is reportedly close.

After years of financial restraints, Yonghong Li’s takeover has breathed new life into the club and it has resulted in seven summer signings already.

Mateo Musacchio, Franck Kessie, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Fabio Borini, Hakan Calhanoglu and Andrea Conti have all arrived already, and as per the tweet below from Premium Sport journalist Claudio Raiomondi, it appears as though a deal could be close for Biglia to become the eighth new addition.

The Argentine has been heavily linked with a move to join the Rossoneri for weeks, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito has played hardball over the transfer despite the fact that the 31-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Nevertheless, it looks as though he could be nearing a switch as after being a no-show at Lazio’s training camp this weekend, Raimondi suggests that a deal worth €15m plus bonuses could be in the works now.

This move makes a lot of sense for a number of reasons. Milan would be weakening a direct rival by signing their captain, while Biglia would be the experienced and technically gifted leader in the middle of the pitch to string everything together.

It may not be the most extravagant of signings, nor the player that some would have hoped for, but it’s certainly another solid addition to the side, provided that a deal can now be reached as the two parties move ever closer to an agreement.
