Chelsea offered chance of stunning €150m double swoop for La Liga pair

Chelsea will reportedly be handed the opportunity to sign both James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a combined fee of €150m.

It’s a been a frustrating summer for Antonio Conte so far, with Willy Caballero the only really notable addition to his squad to make up for the loss of Asmir Begovic as back-up goalkeeper.

While there are a couple of deals expected to be completed in the coming days, Diario Gol claim that those could be surpassed by this brilliant opportunity to sign two Real Madrid stars in Rodriguez and Morata.

Both players suffered with the same frustrations last season having failed to establish themselves as regulars in Zinedine Zidane’s side, and so a move elsewhere for a more prominent role would make sense as they’re certainly good enough.

With Chelsea needing to bolster their squad with quality and depth before next season starts, this could be a perfect double raid on the La Liga champions, with Conte given a chance to finally work with Morata after they came close to doing so at Juventus.

On that occasion, the Italian tactician took the Italy job just as the Spaniard arrived in Turin, and with Romelu Lukaku now Man Utd bound, it has now seemingly paved a clear path for Morata to move to Stamford Bridge.

Interest is still said to be high in Rodriguez with a number of clubs paired with a move over the last couple of months, but it could be Chelsea who are presented with the ideal opportunity to address two key issues in one swoop.

Morata scored 20 goals in 43 appearances for Los Blancos last season, while Rodriguez managed 11 goals and 13 assists in 33 outings. In turn, the quality is obviously there, now it could be Conte who benefits from Madrid’s clear out as they eye marquee signings of their own.
