Double Arsenal transfer boost as key £60m pair reject exits, stay with Wenger

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has reportedly rejected a move to Marseille this summer, while Hector Bellerin is heading back to London.

Fear has been growing at Arsenal over the futures of key players across the squad, namely the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil who have just 12 months remaining on their respective contracts.

However, speculation has linked others with exits too, including both Koscielny and Bellerin, but it would appear as though neither will be leaving the Emirates this summer.

With regards to Koscielny, he has been the subject of interest from Marseille, as per The Sun, but it’s noted that it would have taken the Ligue 1 outfit a bid of £30m+ to prise the commanding centre-half away from the Gunners.

The French international has himself now put an end to exit talk, insisting that he plans on staying with Arsenal beyond this summer.

“When I first got here, I didn’t think about how long I would stay at this club – but now I am starting my eighth season so I am very happy with this.

“I am happy in my life every day, not just the football but my life with my wife and kids in London. We enjoy it, that’s why I have stayed for a long time here.

“I have a long contract with Arsenal and I have no reason to leave the club.”

Citing his gratitude and loyalty to Wenger as being other reasons for staying, Koscielny will hope to be a leading figure for Arsenal next season in their bid to win silverware.

Meanwhile, Bellerin has also given the biggest indication yet that he intends on returning to Arsenal with this Instagram post.

As noted by The Sun, speculation has been rife over a possible return to Barcelona this summer, with a £30m move touted as he was said to be keen on a return to his former club.

However, Arsenal had no interest in selling the 22-year-old given he has developed into an established figure in Wenger’s side, and so it seems as though Barca have backed off with the admission that Bellerin is staying in north London.
