Leicester City are starting to lose their grip on superstar winger Riyad Mahrez as Jose Mourinho and Man United look to press ahead with a late move for the want-away playmaker.
Reports by the Mirror have suggested that Mourinho is very keen on making a dramatic last minute attempt to bring Mahrez to Old Trafford in what could be one of the most exciting deals of the window and a devastating blow to rivals Arsenal who have also pursued the star.
The Algerian has been at the centre of a transfer saga from the minute the window opened. With Roma and Arsenal leading the way in the pursuit for the star all summer, a late move from the Red Devils is sure to rock the boat. The Express have reported that both Arsenal and Roma had been battling for the signature of Leicester’s star man while also claiming that the Foxes value their playmaker at £50m.
If anyone has the nerve to pull off this surprise late deal and also have the money to match Leicester’s £50m – it would typically be United and Mourinho. However, the Metro have suggested that the Portuguese manager is yet to reach a clear agreement and understanding with his board on the approach that will be made for the Algerian.
Marhez ws awarded the PFA player of the year award after the 2015/16 season in which he played a vital role in securing the League title for the Midlands club. However, since Leicester’s astonishing title winning season they have failed to recapture their form. Mahrez has been linked with a move away ever since and Man United could just be the club to provide it.
