£138m Liverpool deal and 7pm announcement entirely dismissed by Spanish football expert

Guillem Balague has completely dismissed claims by The Sun that Philippe Coutinho is set to leave Liverpool on transfer deadline day.

The Brazilian playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona all summer, handing in a transfer request earlier this month to push a deal through.

However, Liverpool have remained resolute throughout and insisted that they have no desire to sell their prized asset, and that seems to be the same message heading into the final few hours of the transfer window.

The Sun claimed that Barcelona were preparing to make an announcement at 7pm this evening, with their suggestion that the Catalan giants have finally landed Coutinho in a deal worth £138m, their fourth bid for the 25-year-old.

However, Balague isn’t having any of it and took to Twitter to respond to the latest reports, insisting that the Coutinho to Barcelona story is all-but over as the La Liga giants have denied that there is an agreement with Liverpool and haven’t even made a fourth offer, as per his sources.

It remains to be seen whether there is any late drama left in this story, but Balague has been pretty much spot on throughout this saga, and there’s no reason to doubt him now.
