Tottenham look set to beat rivals Chelsea to the signing of Swansea and Spain forward Fernando Llorente after the club agree a deal with the Swans for the 32-year-old, as reported by Sky Sports.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs opened negotiations with Swansea for Llorente on Tuesday, with the two clubs able to agree a deal for the 15-goal forward on Wednesday morning. Chelsea are also in talks with the Welsh side over  a deal for the former Juventus man, however no official bid has been made for the player by the Premier League champions.

Swans boss Paul Clement had said that he was confident of keeping star frontman Llorente this summer, however the former Derby boss did admit that “something can come out of absolutely nowhere”, and this certainly seems to be the case following the news around Spurs move for the player, as reported by Sky Sports.

Llorente managed to bag an impressive 15 goals in 33 league games for the Swans last season as he helped the Welsh side avoid relegation to the Championship.

Should Spurs manage to beat the Blues to the signing of Llorente, it’ll be seen as revenge by some as the north London side look to get one back on their rivals after Chelsea stole Willian from under their noses in 2014.
