Arsenal fan-favourite rejected £90k-a-week deadline-day offer, ready to fight for future

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere reportedly rejected the chance to join Birmingham City on deadline day despite big wages being put on the table.

The 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, and had been linked with another exit from Arsenal as he continues to struggle for playing time.

However, as per The Mirror, he had a big-money offer on the table from Birmingham with boss Harry Redknapp keen to add him to his squad to help in their bid to secure promotion from the Championship this season.

Despite a reported offer of a £90,000-a-week contract, it’s claimed that Wilshere didn’t want to drop down a league at this stage of his career, and so instead he’ll continue to battle for a place in Arsene Wenger’s plans.

Wilshere has been included in Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad, and will hope that he can play an important role for the Gunners as they continue to come under scrutiny following their poor start to the campaign and their disappointing transfer window.

It’s surely set for the England international to now make his mark having recovered from injury, as the likes of Granit Xhaka, Mesut Ozil and others have come under fire for their poor displays. If Wilshere can’t force his way into the team this season, coupled with his expiring contract, he may well have to look at other options sooner rather than later.
