Man City vs Liverpool confirmed line-ups: Two key Klopp defensive changes

Posted by

Manchester City host Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, with both sides looking to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.

Both clubs have taken seven points from their opening three games of the Premier League season, and so that adds to this being a huge clash so early in the year.

Vincent Kompany misses out after picking up a calf injury on international duty, while Raheem Sterling is suspended and misses out on facing his old club. There is good news for Pep Guardiola too though as Kyle Walker is back after a one-match ban.

As for the visitors, Jurgen Klopp is still without Nathaniel Clyne and Adam Lallana due to injury, while Philippe Coutinho isn’t included as he continues to put the summer transfer window and a niggling back injury behind him.

Simon Mignolet is back between the posts after being rested against Arsenal last time out, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is back in defence at the expense of Joe Gomes.

Deadline-day signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has to settle for a place on the bench as he looks to make his Reds debut following his move from Arsenal.
