Arsenal legend rages at fans, faces fierce backlash after defending £40m man

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has been left furious following a fierce backlash from fans to a tweet in support of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on Friday.

As per The Guardian, the 24-year-old completed a £40m move to Liverpool on deadline-day last month, and has since struggled to have a positive impact at Anfield.

That has led to plenty of mockery from Arsenal fans who were already left a little disappointed that Oxlade-Chamberlain chose to leave and join their Premier League rivals, but that anger was seemingly stoked by Wright’s tweet below.

It’s fair to say that it wasn’t met with widespread support as many started hitting out at Wright himself for making such a statement, while the memes and GIFs bombarded the thread of replies.

However, certain responses clearly irked the Arsenal legend and he didn’t mince his words as he went on a blocking spree and he let those individuals know in no uncertain terms what he thought of them, as seen in the tweets below.

Whichever side of the fence you sit on with regards to Oxlade-Chamberlain, everyone is entitled to their opinion. If Wright ‘loved’ him as he suggests, then fair play to him. Although, it’s arguably the popular belief that the former Southampton man didn’t ever really fulfil his potential at Arsenal and he may well encounter similar problems at Liverpool moving forward.
