A Lionel Messi free-kick was the highlight of the evening as 10-man Barcelona beat Olympiakos 3-1 to stay top go Group D after winning both of their previous Champions League games against Juventus and Sporting Lisbon.
Ter Stegan – 7
Didn’t have much to do despite his side going down to ten men and will be disappointed to have conceded
Sergi Roberto – 7
Solid display, did no harm to his reputation and is growing in stature with every game he plays
Pique – 2
Getting dismissed is never a clever thing to do, especially in the first half. Was got out of jail by Messi and co. but will now miss the return tie in Turkey.
Umtiti – 8
Did well considering he had to take charge of the defence after he teammate was sent off. Stepped up to the task superbly.
Digne – 8
Didn’t do much wrong, and grabbed a goal to cap off a good night for the full-back
Paulinho – 8
Has proven many doubters wrong since his arrival at the Nou Camp. Sturdy display and not bad going forward either. Kudos.
Busquets – 7
Does what he does best by winning the ball, passing it on and creating chances. Must curve his dramatic play-acting though.
Iniesta – 8
Accomplished performance from a man who, still at the age of 33, terrifies defences with inch-perfect passes.
Deulofeu – 7
Did well and put in a good shift but it is obvious why he is defiantly not in the full-strength tarting eleven.
Messi – 8
Grabbed a superb free-kick to calm the nervous of the home fans and put in another Champions League legendary display.
Luis Suarez – 6
A bit quiet from his usual self tonight, but was still a handful for the opposition defenders
Mascherano – 7
Was called upon to help out at the back during the second half and showed that he has still got it
Rakitic – 6
Played some good balls and linked up play well. Helped steady the ship.
Gomes – 5
Only played for the last ten minutes which maybe is a indication of manager Ernesto Valverde’s intentions for him this season
