Not a bad deal for Spurs!

Real Madrid have reportedly offered Tottenham the chance to sign Karim Benzema as part of any transfer deal for Harry Kane after Gareth Bale refused a return to White Hart Lane.

The Spanish giants are known to be desperate to sign the prolific England international next summer, with Diario Gol providing an update on their pursuit of the 24-year-old.

While there had been talk that Real could offer Bale a return to Spurs, Diario Gol claim the Welshman has no desire to make the move back to the club he left for Madrid back in 2013.

Kane impressed as Tottenham drew with Real in last night’s Champions League clash at the Bernabeu, and Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is eager to get him on board.

So much so that Diario Gol claim Benzema is the latest player to be offered to Tottenham in an attempt to sweeten the deal, with the France international perhaps no longer seen as indispensable at the club.

Benzema has been in the Spanish capital since 2009 and has established himself as one of Europe’s top forwards in that time, though he only has two goals so far this season, and managed just 19 in 48 games in all competitions last term.

It’s easy to see how Kane on his current form would be an upgrade in that area of the pitch, but it will be no easy task to persuade Spurs to let their star player go.

While the promise of Benzema in return looks tempting, it’s questionable if the 29-year-old is really at the peak of his powers anymore and at an ideal stage of his career to be moving to a new, more competitive league.
