Real Madrid will try and lure Marcus Rashford to the Bernabeu if their planned attempt to sign Harry Kane does not come off.

Don Balon claim that club president Florentino Perez is a big fan of the youngster who may ultimately be favoured over the Tottenham striker if it means keeping Karim Benzema.

Spurs have insisted that none of their star players are for sale, although Madrid are poised to make a huge £150m bid for Kane in January anyway, according to the Daily Mirror. Gareth Bale and Benzema may be part of an initial bid in the new year but Luka Modric may be offered as well if the club’s £179m asking price was not met.

Rashford has caught many eyes within Europe since his debut two seasons ago. He scored eleven goals as he helped Manchester United win the League Cup and the Europa League last season.

The youngster is now a fully fledged England international and is set to make his second major tournament appearance at next year’s World Cup in Russia as he hits the tender age of 20.

While Rashford may not yet be at the level of Kane in terms of goalscoring, his all-round ability to play in a variety of attacking roles could also appeal to Madrid as they seek to bolster their attack.

More importantly, Don Balon also claim a move for Rashford would have the approval of Los Blancos star Cristiano Ronaldo, who keeps a close eye on his old club and who believes the youngster would make a strong addition.
