Tough times at Chelsea.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte admits it didn’t look like a good idea to change his formation against Roma in last night’s Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are on a run of three games without a win in all competitions, and found themselves 3-2 down despite going 2-0 up against the Italian giants in last night’s match.

Conte started the game with a somewhat experimental line up, with David Luiz pushed up from defence into midfield, while he switched from his usual 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 with Eden Hazard partnering Alvaro Morata up front.

Asked about the move after the game, Conte admits he wasn’t happy with his team’s performance in that new system.

When quizzed on if the change was the right decision, Conte told ITV: ‘Maybe not. Because I think we suffered for a lot of the game.

‘Only when we changed it and played with our system did we play the football that I like to see.’

Luiz was eventually replaced by Pedro as Chelsea moved from a three-man central midfield to a three-man attack, though it still wasn’t enough to prevent Roma coming away from west London with a point.

The Blues are reasonably comfortable in their group, however, with two wins under their belt from their first two games, and with Atletico Madrid unable to beat Qarabag in their match last night.
