Are they just not bothered?

Manchester United are reportedly in no hurry to tie manager Jose Mourinho down to a new contract despite speculation that he’s a target for Paris Saint-Germain.

The Sun recently claimed the Portuguese tactician was in the French giants’ sights, in what would unquestionably be a tempting move for any top manager given the expensively-assembled and talented squad of players on their books.

Mourinho also helped fuel these rumours by admitting to Telefoot that he did not plan to end his career at Old Trafford, whilst talking up football in Paris in the same interview, as quoted by Get Football News France.

United are not panicking, however, with ESPN claiming initial talks have been held over the former Chelsea boss extending his stay in Manchester, even if neither party are desperate to finalise talks in the immediate future.

Mourinho has started well at United on the back of a disappointing end to his time at Chelsea, winning three trophies in his first season with the club last year.

Still, they only finished sixth in the Premier League and it is in the bigger competitions such as that one that Mourinho will ultimately be judged.

The Red Devils look more realistic title contenders this season, with Mourinho’s side currently second in the table, just two points behind neighbours Manchester City.
