It’s been far from an ideal start to the season for AC Milan, and things could get worse in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Andre Silva joined the Rossoneri in a €38m deal from Porto this past summer, as per Sky Sports, and although the 21-year-old is still searching for his first Serie A goal, he’s largely impressed with six goals and an assist in seven Europa League outings including qualifiers.

In turn, he’s surely not a player that Milan want to lose any time soon, especially after such an exciting summer during which they brought in 11 new players to completely revamp the squad.
However, it hasn’t gone to plan for Vincenzo Montella and his men as they’ve suffered three consecutive defeats in Serie A to leave them in 10th place in the table, while their goalless draw with AEK Athens in the Europa League on Thursday night further infuriated supporters.
Interest increases in Silva
Their mood is unlikely to improve with this rumour, as Calciomercato report that Barcelona have joined Arsenal in the hunt for Silva.
Milan will undoubtedly be desperate to avoid losing him in January, and in truth, it seems improbable that he’ll walk away from the San Siro after just six months.
However, if results don’t improve and Montella’s position comes under threat, it’s difficult to tell how the situation will play out with the Italian giants, as positive results are expected following such an expensive splurge in the summer.
Midfield problem for Milan
Meanwhile, there’s more negative news on the transfer front for Milan, as it’s claimed by Calciomercato that they will drop their interest in Sassuolo midfielder Alfred Duncan.
An alternative to Franck Kessie is needed in this Milan squad, as the summer signing has already looked fatigued having played so many minutes and there is a worrying lack of a player with similar characteristics to dominate in midfield.
In turn, Duncan could have been a sensible signing. However, the report claims that a bid of around €15m won’t likely be enough, and so Milan may switch their attention elsewhere.
Results will need to improve before the January transfer window for Montella to save his job, but reinforcements may well be needed if Milan intend on making a serious run of making the top four and therefore qualifying for the Champions League next season.
