He’s revealed which club he’ll choose.

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil has reportedly told his team-mates he’s going to seal a controversial transfer to rivals Manchester United.

The Germany international is said to be confident that Old Trafford will be his next destination and has let that slip to his Gunners colleagues, according to the Daily Mirror.

The report adds that it is not yet certain that United will make a move for him, while Arsenal are understood to have lessened their own efforts to persuade Ozil to stay and sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

This follows recent reports from the Independent that United were ready to swoop for the 29-year-old attacking midfielder, who played for United boss Jose Mourinho during their time together at Real Madrid.

It could be that working for the Portuguese again has been a big factor in Ozil’s decision, as he seems to have his heart set on swapping Arsenal for United either in January or next summer.

It is not yet clear when the former Madrid ace will get his departure from north London, though the Mirror cites Arsene Wenger’s recent hint that he may have to cash in on the player in the middle of the season in a bid to avoid losing him on a free.

Mesut Ozil – coming or going?

This contradicts recent claims by Ozil’s agent, however, who was quoted on Sky Sports earlier this month as saying talks over extending his stay at Arsenal were moving in a ‘positive’ direction.

Around the same time, there was also some talk from the Sun that United and Mourinho had cooled their interest in Ozil, but the Mirror’s latest claims suggest the player is at least optimistic that the move is back on.

Ozil has made 167 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 32 goals, though he’s never entirely won over Gunners supporters in his four years at the club.
