Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly held secret talks with fellow Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, assuring him of his support. Don Balon claim the Portugal captain met with the France international in private after he was subject to heavy criticism in recent weeks over his performances.
Los Blancos have been repeatedly linked with top attacking talent as alternatives to Benzema but the news outlet say Ronaldo insists the 29-year-old would be hard to replace.
They also say that the Euro 2016 winner met with president Florentino Perez to try and convince him that the Frenchman should not be sold under any circumstances.
Benzema has scored just twice in eight appearances this season for Los Blancos but has 123 goals to his name in 248 La Liga games.
He also has an impressive trophy cabinet. Since his arrival in 2009 from Lyon, the talisman has bagged three Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, two Copa Del Rey trophies and three UEFA Super Cups.
