Man Utd fans fume over FIFA awards snub, while Mourinho gets cold shoulder from own player

Monday night wasn’t a great night for Man Utd it seems as supporters were left furious and Jose Mourinho may have felt a little unloved.

Taking the former into consideration first, it stems from the fact that goalkeeper David De Gea wasn’t even in the race to be named Best Goalkeeper at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards ceremony in London.

The title went to a deserved winner in Italian legend Gianluigi Buffon, but the fact that De Gea didn’t even receive a single percentage vote in the race left supporters beyond baffled, as seen in the tweets below.

The Spaniard has been in exceptional form for a long time now, establishing himself as one of the best shot-stoppers and all-round goalkeepers in Europe.

If we need evidence to back up such a claim, we only need to go back as recently as the Liverpool game earlier this month where he produced a stunning save to ensure his side picked up a crucial point at Anfield.

However, it wasn’t enough to impress FIFA and voters it seems.

Meanwhile, as reported by The Mirror, Mourinho may have felt a little aggrieved as Henrikh Mkhitaryan didn’t even consider him for the Best Coach award.

As the captain of the Armenian national team, the 28-year-old was given the honour of casting a vote. However, Mourinho didn’t even make his top three as he went with Zinedine Zidane, Massimiliano Allegri and Leonardo Jardim instead.

It’s hard to really argue against Zidane though as he was a more than worthy winner, with the Real Madrid boss continuing his incredible streak of winning trophies with the La Liga title and the Champions League last season.
