Major worries for United ahead of Tottenham’s visit.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho faces having just one fit central midfielder to choose from against Tottenham in this weekend’s big Premier League clash.

The Red Devils are in urgent need of a win in this title race six-pointer, having lost to Huddersfield Town last week to end up trailing league leaders Manchester City by five points.

According to ESPN, United are now set to assess both Marcus Rashford and Ander Herrera ahead of Saturday’s game, with both looking doubtful after picking up knocks in the Carabao Cup win over Swansea City in midweek.

With Paul Pogba, Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick already out, this potentially leaves United with just Nemanja Matic to choose from in central midfield against Spurs.

Players like Phil Jones and Daley Blind may be able to fill in there for one game, but United won’t want to be without so many key players for too much longer.

Tottenham go into the game in fine form after beating Liverpool 4-1 at the weekend, though their slightly reshuffled side were beaten 3-2 by West Ham in the League Cup last night.

United and Spurs go into the game level on points, and both will feel it’s vital they have as strong a squad as possible to choose from in a game that could have a major sway on this season’s title race.

One positive for United is that the Metro report that Mauricio Pochettino is unsure of having star striker Harry Kane available for the trip to Old Trafford.
