Barcelona are seemingly forever scouring the transfer market to identify possible targets to strengthen their squad, and reports claim that a marquee signing could be on the agenda.
Things have started well for Ernesto Valverde at the Nou Camp after he took charge this past summer, as he’s led the Catalan giants to top spot in the La Liga table with eight wins and a draw from their opening nine games, while they also boast a 100 percent record in the Champions League.

In turn, it would appear that there’s little need to be considering transfer moves at this stage, but according to Mundo Deportivo, who have also run with the story on their front-page as seen below, Barca are lining up a sensational swoop for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, with whom they’ve been linked with before.

The 26-year-old has found it tough-going at Atleti this season in comparison to previous years, as he has managed to score just three goals in 10 appearances so far this campaign.
It has led to speculation over his future being reignited and as noted by the report, the French international has a release clause in his contract that will allow him to leave for €100m after July 1, 2018.
Whether or not Barcelona are capable of meeting those demands remains to be seen, while with an attacking trident of Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi in place currently, it’s unclear how they would fit Griezmann in.
They would of course have to find a way given the quality that he possesses as he would rightly expect to be a regular starter having proven his class for club and country for a number of years.
Nevertheless, it’s noted by Mundo Deportivo that the response from the Frenchman over the links to Barca is said to have been positive, and so developments could be on the way next summer as he could consider taking the next step in his career to put himself in a position to seriously compete for major honours year in and year out.
