AC Milan transfer news: Talks with CL winner’s agent, teenage ace with €100m release clause on radar

AC Milan have endured a difficult start to the campaign, but reports claim that new signings may continue to arrive at the San Siro.

The Italian giants signed 11 new players over the summer following Yonghong Li’s takeover of the club, but Vincenzo Montella and his squad haven’t been able to deliver the desired results.

After 10 games, they sit in eighth place in the Serie A table, nine points adrift of the Champions League qualification spots, although they are marching on in the Europa League.

Despite all those new additions and the time needed to bed them in, Le Parisien claim that the Rossoneri are already looking at their next targets and suggest that the advisers of Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel Di Maria are ‘advancing on an agreement’ with Milan.

While no financial details are offered in the report, it’s difficult to assess how likely this transfer is. Nevertheless, Milan would certainly be addressing a key problem in their squad as Montella lacks wingers and pace in the wide positions and the Argentine international would certainly offer that.

Having enjoyed successful spells with PSG and Real Madrid, winning the Champions League with the latter in 2014, the 29-year-old would also bring a wealth of experience with him to the San Siro, and so if he is a genuine target for the club, it would arguably be a very sensible addition.

Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, respected Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has suggested that Milan are looking at RB Leipzig teenager Dayot Upamecano as a possible future transfer target too.

This move wouldn’t make as much sense as Milan have a wealth of options in defence, with Leonardo Bonucci and Mateo Musacchio joining the club this past summer to add to the likes of Alessio Romagnoli, Cristian Zapata, Gustavo Gomez and Gabriel Paletta.

However, if they are looking to bring in a future long-term option to rival them in the pecking order, then it would obviously fit, while Gomez and Paletta have yet to make a single appearance this season which raises doubts about their futures.

The 19-year-old already has 55 appearances at senior level under his belt, while he’s represented France from U16 to U19 level and is seemingly set for a bright future.

As per Bild, he has a staggering €100m release clause in his contract which will undoubtedly complicate any transfer, but he’s clearly got Europe talking as Pedulla notes that Barcelona, Liverpool, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid have all been previously linked with him.
