(Photo) Liverpool trolled by bookies over defensive nightmare and transfer failure

Liverpool have shipped 16 goals in just nine Premier League games so far this season, and their inability to address their defensive problems have left them open to trolling.

Enter Paddy Power, who as seen in the image and video below, have erected a Virgil van Dijk valuation board right next to Anfield ahead of their encounter with Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

Reds fans will see it in all its glory ahead of kick-off, and it will be a reminder of their failure to land the £60m-rated Dutch international this past summer, after he become embroiled in a transfer saga, as reported by The Mirror.

While there’s no guarantee that Van Dijk alone would fix Liverpool’s defensive woes, it would surely be a helping hand to keep things tighter at the back given the performances from the likes of Dejan Lovren and Simon Mignolet in recent times.

In turn, Paddy Power have put up the valuation board for the 26-year-old, and have revealed that his valuation will increase every time Liverpool are guilty of committing a defensive howler.

Naturally, the Reds faithful will be hoping that they don’t see one on Saturday as they look to bounce back from their 4-1 defeat to Tottenham last weekend, but it’s unlikely to be a long-term fix and it remains to be seen if Van Dijk is eventually the man to come in to try and address the problem.
