‘He’s a very average player’ – Chelsea ace gets blasted by fans after dismal effort at Bournemouth

There was much to be positive about for Chelsea fans after their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday, but one player didn’t get a great response.

Eden Hazard’s second-half strike was all that split the two sides with the visitors at the Vitality Stadium missing opportunities to make it more comfortable.

While the Belgian international was a worthy Man of the Match winner, Marcos Alonso was on the complete opposite end of the spectrum based on the tweets below.

It’s fair to say that Chelsea fans were not impressed with the Spaniard, as they singled him out for criticism after a poor display.

The 26-year-old was an almost ever-present last season, making 37 appearances in all competitions in his first campaign with Chelsea, scoring six goals and providing three assists as he played an important role in their Premier League title success.

He’s continued to be an important figure this year, appearing in all 10 league outings thus far and the Champions League as the Blues still have a lack of depth on the left flank which wasn’t addressed in the summer.

In turn, many of the disgruntled supporters below have pointed to the fact that Alonso doesn’t have any competition to keep him on his toes. What he does have now though is a number of angry fans ready to get on his back if he doesn’t pick up his performances.

Conte won’t have much choice but to play him, but ultimately, he will have to be dropped if he can’t perform at a high level both domestically and in the Champions League and his effort against the Cherries was seemingly deemed not good enough.
