A series of injuries and fierce competition for places has ensured that it’s been a major struggle for one Barcelona star in particular since his joined the club in 2015.
With just 33 appearances in all competitions in almost two-and-a-half seasons, Aleix Vidal hasn’t had the desired impact at Barca and he’s currently suffering with more frustration as he’s sidelined with another injury.
In turn, his name has been linked with an exit in the January transfer window, and Sport believe that he may well have added to the speculation with his social media activity.
Aside from the usual sources of transfer talk, social media has gradually offered more indications of a player’s intention or possible future plans, and Sport believe that Vidal has done so here with his decision to follow former club Sevilla.
It’s claimed that within hours of the publication posting their transfer story on the Spaniard going back to his old club, he began following them on his social media platforms which has unsurprisingly added further fuel to the fire.
An exit would undoubtedly make sense even though he may have been buoyed by the level of involvement handed to him by Ernesto Valverde so far this season, but specifically a return to Sevilla where he impressed enough to earn the move to Barcelona could be the right decision for his career.
It will potentially offer him the chance of regular football as with the addition of Nelson Semedo over the summer too, his chances of becoming a first-team fixture at the Nou Camp moving forward have reduced further.
