Lionel Messi furious with Barcelona boss ahead of potential January axing of teammate

Things are going very well on the pitch at Barcelona this season as they remain on course to launch an assault of multiple major trophies.

Ernesto Valverde has seemingly done an excellent job thus far having taken charge this past summer, and he’ll be working diligently to ensure that they can keep their form going.

The Catalan giants sit four points clear at the top of the La Liga table with nine wins from 10 games, while they boast a 100 percent record in the Champions League.

However, just when things appeared to be going perfectly, reports claim that Lionel Messi is not impressed with his Barcelona boss over a potentially key sale in the January transfer window.

According to Don Balon, as re-reported by The Express, Valverde is open to the idea of offloading Denis Suarez in the new year as the 23-year-old continues to struggle to hold down a regular place in his line-up.

Suarez has made just eight appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring twice and providing three assists and so it’s clear that he is capable of having an impact and that may well be behind Messi’s desire to keep him around.

Further, it’s suggested that Valverde values Andre Gomes highly, even though the Portuguese international has struggled badly to prove his worth since arriving from Valencia last year.

In turn, the touted decision to sell Suarez and keep Gomes hasn’t pleased Messi according to Don Balon, and so it remains to be seen whether or not it causes friction in the coming months with the big decision coming in January.

There could be an argument to suggest that neither should leave midway through the campaign, as Barcelona need a deep squad to continue to compete on various fronts and injuries could derail them if they don’t have enough depth.

However, we’re led to believe that Messi has picked his side on this occasion, now time will tell if his power at the club has any sway over managerial decisions.
