Conte to AC Milan? The Italian has spoken…

Antonio Conte has responded to talk over leaving Chelsea to take the AC Milan job following growing speculation that he could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

The Italian tactician only took over at Chelsea last season, and enjoyed instant success in England by leading the Blues to the Premier League title and the FA Cup final.

Things haven’t gone quite as smoothly this year, however, with Marca recently reporting that bad results had seen Roman Abramovich already decide on parting ways with Conte at the end of the season at the latest.

This also follows speculation from the Sun that Carlo Ancelotti is being considered to return to Chelsea and replace Conte, who has previously hinted he’d like to manage in Serie A again.

‘Italy is my homeland, so once I have had some good experiences, formative experiences, important and life-changing experiences, I’ll be back. I don’t know when but that’s the aim,’ Conte was quoted in the Guardian back in September.

Could Conte be heading to AC Milan?

Still, when asked specifically about the prospect of managing Milan, Conte hit back angrily at the rumours and insisted he is focused only on Chelsea.

‘Milan? Leave it out,’ Conte told Sky Sport Italia, as quoted by Football Italia.

‘We’re trying to stay concentrated, because it’s a tough run from here to the end of the season. I am only concentrated on Chelsea and purely want to do what is best for Chelsea.’

Conte got Chelsea back to winning ways yesterday with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, though they remain nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
