Real Madrid president to sell Arsenal transfer target against Zidane’s wishes, could be bad news for Chelsea & Manchester United

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reportedly decided to sell Arsenal transfer target Keylor Navas next summer as he continues to target Manchester United and Chelsea goalkeepers David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois.

The Spanish giants have long been linked with a raid on the Premier League for one of its star shot-stoppers, with BBC Sport noting that De Gea came close to joining Real back in 2015 before the deal broke down late on.

According to Diario Gol, Perez remains desperate to bring either De Gea or Courtois to the Bernabeu as an upgrade on Navas, despite manager Zinedine Zidane being a fan of the Costa Rican and defending his place in the team.

Navas has shone for Real since becoming the club’s number one in the 2015/16 season, winning two Champions League titles as Los Blancos’ first choice between the sticks.

Chance for Arsenal to seal Navas transfer?

Diario Gol also recently claimed that Navas was a target for Arsenal as they start to plan for life without veteran ‘keeper Petr Cech, who has looked past his best for some time now.

The Gunners could be boosted by Perez’s desire to both weaken one of their rivals by pursuing De Gea or Courtois, whilst also making Navas available for transfer in the near future.

Arsenal could do with a shake-up at the back, having conceded 16 goals already this season – more than the likes of Swansea City, Bournemouth and West Brom, who are all currently in the bottom five of the Premier League table.

The report claims, however, that Navas could be happy to continue at Real even if he is no longer first choice, as he’d be keen to fight for his place in the side.
