Real Madrid have confirmed yet another Gareth Bale injury blow, with the Welshman suffering a fibula rupture, according to an official statement from the club.
The Sun recently linked Manchester United with fresh interest in Bale, while Diario Gol suggested his preference was to return to the Premier League with former club Tottenham.
Either way, Bale has struggled to live up to expectations at the Bernabeu, following his big-money move from Spurs in the summer of 2013.
According to the Metro, Bale could now be out for as much as another six weeks, in what is the latest in a long line of injury blows for the 28-year-old.
United fans have responded to the news on Twitter, and seem themselves to now be less keen on the prospect of signing such an injury-prone player…
This is why we must avoid Bale at all costs. Too injury prone when you need him https://t.co/1WFjJ2i2KF

No offence but I’m a bit happy that United didn’t sign Bale because he is injured yet again, the man has no luck whatsoever

Bale is finished lol. Madrid really should have flogged him this summer with Utd waiting in the wings. The injuries will only get worse as he gets older sadly. https://t.co/DJbhmnUyHq
