Pochettino to Man Utd & five Tottenham stars they’d love to see him sign in transfer raid on Spurs, including potential £170m deal

Reports claim Manchester United are looking at Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as their ideal replacement for Jose Mourinho if he moves to PSG.

The Argentine tactician has established himself as one of the most impressive tacticians in world football with his work at Spurs, and the Daily Express claim he’s on the Red Devils’ radar due to uncertainty over their current manager’s future.

It’s little surprise to see Pochettino earning glances from European giants, with the Express reporting that PSG also interested in him as an alternative if they cannot land Mourinho.

There has already been some speculation linking Tottenham stars with moves to United, and that could increase further if he does end up taking the Old Trafford job.

Pochettino is reportedly a contender to be next Man Utd manager

While it’s unlikely that Spurs would let a large number of their best players go to a rival, here’s a look at five of their stand-out performers that both United and indeed Pochettino himself would surely love to bring with him were he to move clubs…

Harry Kane

According to the Sun, Tottenham’s top scorer Harry Kane is already a target for current United manager Mourinho, though he could cost as much as £170million.

The England international is one of the very best finishers in world football right now, and it’s easy to see how he could fit in superbly at a top club like United.

Harry Kane has been a prolific scorer for Tottenham

The Reds may already have Romelu Lukaku in that position, though the Belgian has failed to score in his last seven games for the club, raising some questions over his suitability for the side.

Dele Alli

Marca recently claimed he was a target for Real Madrid, but there’s no question Pochettino could do with Dele Alli at Manchester United if he were to end up replacing Mourinho.

The 21-year-old is up there with the very best young players on the planet at the moment, and could be an upgrade on United’s current options in attacking midfield.

Capable of playing a variety of roles, Alli would certainly give the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan a run for their money in terms of keeping their place in the first XI.

Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen have been big success stories under Pochettino

Christian Eriksen

A superb creative midfield player, Christian Eriksen has been linked by Sport with interest from Barcelona recently, and it’s about time bigger clubs started taking notice of his abilities.

The Denmark international has been a consistent performer for Tottenham under Pochettino, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see the Argentine try to work with him again.

Toby Alderweireld

A rock-solid centre-back who has played an essential role in Tottenham’s strong defensive record under Pochettino, Toby Alderweireld could be just what’s needed for United at the back.

The Belgian would surely be an upgrade on the likes of Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling, none of whom have truly nailed down a regular place in Mourinho’s side this term.

Danny Rose

Tottenham’s Danny Rose has been linked with Man Utd in the past

Already on United’s radar, Tuttomercatoweb linked Danny Rose with a move to United earlier this season, and he could solve an obvious problem for the club at left-back.

The 27-year-old is one of the top performers in the Premier League in his position, and has really raised his game during his time working under Pochettino.

Could the two end up together at Old Trafford in the future? It looks nicely set up for that at the moment.
