It’s fair to say that Zinedine Zidane is experiencing one of the tougher moments of his Real Madrid tenure currently, and it isn’t getting easier.
While his side managed to offer some respite to the French tactician with a 3-0 win over Las Palmas prior to the international break, they fell to a shock defeat at Girona just a week earlier while they took a point from two meetings with Tottenham in the Champions League to drop from top spot in Group H.
Their league form also leaves them eight points adrift of rivals Barcelona who sit top of the standings, and so they’ve got their work cut out to defend their league and European crowns this season.
This latest issue won’t help improve Zidane’s mood as Isco suffered a heavy knock while on international duty with Spain this week, as per the tweet below, and he could miss their upcoming clash with Russia as a result.
While it isn’t mentioned as to whether he’ll recover in time to face Atletico Madrid in a crunch derby showdown next Saturday, it surely puts his participation in doubt as Zidane will be hoping that he isn’t risked further by Spain and is able to return to receive treatment.
The 25-year-old has embraced a more prominent role at Real and with Spain and is impressing all with his quality this season, as he’s racked up tallies of five goals and four assists in 17 appearances in all competitions to date.
