Barcelona star Lionel Messi is reportedly keen on his club signing Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli to replace the likes of Ivan Rakitic and Andres Iniesta.

The Argentine forward is a big fan of the England international, who has been on fire for Spurs again this season to attract links with Real Madrid from Spanish publication Marca.

Don Balon are now claiming Barcelona could get involved in the transfer tussle, with Messi advising the Catalan giants to look into bringing in Alli as he views him as an ideal heir to Rakitic and Iniesta.

The 21-year-old doesn’t normally play as deep as those two are used for Barcelona, often occupying a more free role behind main man Harry Kane for Tottenham.

Still, Alli has been used in a variety of roles throughout his career and has the talent to slot in wherever needed, with his passing game and intelligence likely to make him a fine candidate to drop deeper at some point in his career.

Tottenham are finding out that their recent success could come at a price, with star players being linked with bigger clubs and manager Mauricio Pochettino also a rumoured target for the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Daily Express.
