Bad news for Arsenal as 24-year-old target admits he’s “not thinking about leaving” current club

Arsenal have been dealt a big blow in their reported pursuit of Germany and PSG midfielder Julian Draxler.

This is according to the Sun, who say that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested in the 24-year-old, however the player is remaining focused about his current club PSG, with Draxler even speaking out about his future with the club.

Speaking about himself and the rumours surrounding him, Draxler said “I am not thinking about leaving the club in winter or summer. I am in mid-season with PSG now and I am focused on the high aims we have.”

Arsenal’s pursuit of Draxler has suffered a big hit

Since his move to the French capital from Wolfsburg in 2017, the player has made a fairly decent start to life in Ligue 1.

In 39 appearances for Emery’s side, the player has managed to score 12 and assist seven in all competitions, a decent record.

During his time in Germany, the midfielder enjoyed a successful spell. For both Schalke and Wolfsburg, the attacking midfielder managed to bag 38 goals and 39 assists in 215 games.

One of Draxler’s biggest qualities is his versatility. During his career, the 24-year-old has played on either wing, and in a variety of different midfield roles.

Should Arsene Wenger’s side fail to land Draxler, it’ll be interesting to see if the player can establish himself in the PSG first team from here on out.
