Good news, Manchester United fans: Red Devils plan crucial January talks after worrying rumours

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to open talks with manager Jose Mourinho over a new contract in the new year as he looks set to snub Paris Saint-Germain.

Recent speculation from the Sun suggested PSG were confident of luring Mourinho to the Parc des Princes, with Don Balon adding that talks had already begun with his agent Jorge Mendes.

Still, while the Daily Express claimed United were already looking at Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement, the Argentine’s quotes in the Guardian suggest they could have trouble prising him away from Spurs.

This could all work out well for United, however, with the Daily Mirror claiming talks have been scheduled over a new deal, while the Daily Star add that the Portuguese has given his word that he’ll snub any offer from PSG.

PSG have lured some of the biggest names in world football to their playing squad in recent years, though they arguably still lack that elite-level manager.

Unai Emery took over from Laurent Blanc last season, but missed out on the Ligue 1 title to Monaco, whose young side surprised many around Europe.

Mourinho would surely not let standards drop that low in a league that is relatively poor in terms of overall competitiveness, but it seems he is determined to continue the job he’s started at Old Trafford.
