Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino did not give a very convincing reason for Danny Rose missing today’s game against Arsenal amid speculation he could seal a transfer to Manchester United.
The England international didn’t even make the squad for Spurs’ trip to the Emirates Stadium today, despite not being injured and recently making his comeback in the Premier League.
The Sun recently reported that United are lining up a raid on Tottenham for Rose this winter, in what looks an ideal move given their own issues at left-back.
Spurs fans could have cause for concern, it seems, with Pochettino keen not to dwell too much on the player’s absence.
In an unconvincing interview with Sky Sports after the defeat to Arsenal, the Argentine simply explained he felt Rose was not yet back to full match sharpness after a long time out.

‘It was a technical decision and after 10 months out – like (Erik) Lamela – they need to build their fitness,’ Pochettino said.
Asked if there was a problem between himself and the player, he said: ‘Problem? About? No! It’s boring to talk today about a player that is not here, or a situation that is not an issue.
‘We need to speak about the game and what happened in 90 minutes, rather than a player who is training away and trying to get fit.’
Rose has made just one league appearance for Tottenham so far this season, but surely the only way to get him back to match fitness is to give him time on the pitch?
All in all, it doesn’t look too good for Rose’s future in north London.
