Manchester United handed golden chance to sign Premier League star after row with manager

Manchester United’s bid to sign Tottenham left-back Danny Rose in the January transfer window looks to have been given a significant boost.

Latest reports suggest the England international is furious with Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino after being axed from the squad to face Arsenal this weekend.

Tottenham were beaten 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, with Rose not even named among the substitutes despite recently making his return to action in the Premier League.

Pochettino defended the decision after the game and insisted there was no problem between himself and the player, but latest reports from the Sun suggest otherwise.

The Argentine appears to have angered Rose a great deal just as the Sun claim United are looking to sign him this January, with the 27-year-old reportedly insistent he was fit to play against the Gunners.

Rose has been a key performer for Tottenham under Pochettino, but it may be that relations between the player and manager have not recovered since the summer.

Rose gave an explosive interview to the Sun back in August when he criticised Tottenham’s transfer policy and revealed his ambition to play up north again in the future.

United are surely now well-placed to grant him this wish in January, with Jose Mourinho certainly in need of reinforcements at left-back after freezing out Luke Shaw and rotating between unconvincing options in Ashley Young, Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian in that position.
