Juventus forward Paulo Dybala has offered a very open and honest assessment of his future, with a specific hint capturing the attention of Man Utd fans.
The 24-year-old has developed into a leading figure in Turin following on from his move from Palermo in 2015, scoring 56 goals in 112 games for the Bianconeri.
In that time, he’s helped them win back-to-back Serie A titles as well as two Coppa Italia trophies, and so he undoubtedly knows what it takes to win with a big chunk of his career still to come.
As reported by the Metro though, the Argentine international has cast doubt over whether that will continue to be with Juventus, while he conceded that the exit of Paul Pogba hurt him which seems to be the basis on which the United fans below have gotten so excited.
“I can’t promise I will stay at Juventus forever,” Dybala told France Football, as per the report above. “It doesn’t depend on me but I don’t even want to say that this will be my last season here.
“Pogba’s departure was a tough hit for me. He is a friend of mine, we were on very good terms on and off the pitch.”
Given it’s a French publication, it’s likely that he was asked about Pogba and gave a direct and frank response. However, that has since blown up into a suggestion that he wants a reunion with his former teammate, with United previously linked with a staggering £155m bid, as per the Metro.
The pair made the headlines last week after Pogba shared this Instagram post wishing his friend a Happy Birthday, while he used the ‘Agent P’ hashtag which sent fans into a frenzy as it was a similar hint that the Frenchman dropped on social media prior to when United signed Romelu Lukaku this past summer.
It remains to be seen whether or not Man Utd actively pursue Dybala next year, but there seems to be a sense of reality and a hint of desire to try a new challenge elsewhere in his career. Time will tell when that is as Pogba will undoubtedly have good things to say about Old Trafford if his former teammate considers his options.
I was honoured to live in Italy for two years and followed Dybala’s career. He’s a phenomenal player and would be a much better option for #MUFC than Ozil
