New threat to Arsenal, €30m January proposal incoming from Euro giants

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Arsenal are running the big risk of losing Alexis Sanchez for nothing in seven months time.

The Chilean international has yet to sign a contract extension, and each passing week it seemingly becomes more and more likely that he will be leaving the Emirates next summer.

In turn, it will be down to Arsenal to decide whether or not they want to cash in during the January transfer window to at least make some financial gain out of his exit, or if they will wait to see if he can be persuaded before the end of the campaign.

To complicate matters though, Don Balon, as re-reported by The Express, claim that Real Madrid have also now emerged as an interested party as they look for a boost given their struggles so far this season.

Zinedine Zidane’s side have made a slow start to the campaign as they risk losing both their Spanish and European crowns, and it’s claimed that a €30m swoop for Sanchez in January could be in the making.

There’s no denying that the 28-year-old would improve any team in Europe, and so given their troubles this season which include being 10 points adrift of Barcelona in the La Liga title race, signing Sanchez for what is arguably a bargain price in today’s market, could give Madrid a huge lift through the second half of the season and beyond.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether or not Arsenal are willing to talk, as although he’s endured a slow start to this year, Sanchez was pivotal as their talisman last season with 30 goals and 19 assists in 51 appearances, and so perhaps Wenger will want to see him finish the campaign to help them achieve their objectives even if he is to leave at the end of it.
