‘How is it even possible?’ – Man Utd star gets slated as club celebrate impressive landmark

Three years on after making his senior debut for Man Utd, Jesse Lingard celebrated making his 100th appearance for the club on Wednesday night.

It didn’t go entirely to plan as United suffered a defeat at Basel in their Champions League clash, but it was still a memorable landmark for Lingard to reach.

The 24-year-old has scored 14 goals in those 100 games, as he’s come through loan spells at various Championship clubs to eventually make his mark on the senior Man Utd side having come through the club’s youth ranks.

While he’ll be hoping for many more appearances to come, there were some supporters and rivals who were shocked that he’s even managed to get this far as they evidently don’t rate him very highly.

Others were more supportive, insisting that they were pleased a Man Utd youngster had come through the ranks and hope he can continue to play a key role for Jose Mourinho moving forward.

However, it’s not surprising that the funnier efforts came with those in the former camp, as they jokingly mocked Lingard, although in the interests of fairness, we’ve included some more positive messages too!

The England international has been a decent player for the Red Devils and his goal in the FA Cup final in 2016 was undoubtedly his biggest moment, but it’s arguably fair that some have questioned just how good he is as competition for places is fierce at United and it remains to be seen if he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.
