Man Utd fans delighted with one player in particular despite Basel defeat

Man Utd suffered disappointment on Wednesday night as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Basel in their Champions League group stage meeting.

While they’re all-but safe to go through to the knockout stage, United missed the opportunity to seal the deal and top spot in Group A in Switzerland.

In turn, Jose Mourinho, the players and supporters will have been left frustrated as they’ll have to now wait until they face CSKA Moscow at Old Trafford on December 5.

However, there was a significant positive to take away from the game as after welcoming Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back from long-term injury layoffs at the weekend in the win over Newcastle United, it was Marcos Rojo’s turn this time round.

The Argentine defender has been sidelined since last season after he suffered a serious injury in the Europa League tie with Anderlecht at Old Trafford.

Having worked hard on his rehabilitation since, he made his much-welcomed return to first-team action against Basel, and he seemingly wasted little time in having a positive impact on United supporters who took to Twitter to praise him.

Mourinho will be delighted with getting another injury boost, as it’s going to be critical for him to have as close to a full-strength squad at his disposal as possible heading into the busy festive period to ensure that they continue to compete on various fronts.
