Arsenal have bid £40m for the French striker Karim Benzema but have had their offer laughed off by the Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The Sun have cited a report from Spanish outlet Diario Gol stating that Arsenal’s bid for the attacker was far below the club’s valuation of the star who found the approach for their striker ’embarrassing’.
Despite this, the report does mention that Benzema could be leaving the Spanish giants in the near future having already spent eight years at the Bernabeu.
While the Frenchman was able to register two goals during Real Madrid’s mid-week Champions League fixture he has seriously struggled this season.
Combined with Cristiano Ronaldo, the two had one of the worst partnership strike rates across all the teams in Europe’s top five divisions.
Only the two strikers for Italian side Benevento have a worse record than Ronaldo and Benzema with the other 96 clubs in the top tiers of the Premier League, Ligue 1, Bundesliga, Serie A and LaLiga boasting far better attacking duos up until this week.
While Arsenal’s offer for the French star may have been laughed off by Real Madrid, it appears that Benzema’s days at the Bernabeu could be numbered.
