Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly urging his club to seal the transfer of Real Madrid attacking midfielder and Manchester United target Marco Asensio.
The Spanish tactician is said to be a big fan of the 21-year-old star, and wants City to splash out as much as £134million for him next summer, according to Don Balon.
This would make Asensio City’s record signing, and could be a blow to Manchester United after another recent report from Don Balon.
They previously claimed United had already tabled a huge offer for the Spain international, with Jose Mourinho a big fan of his after his recent progress at the Bernabeu.
Asensio burst onto the scene with some exciting displays last season, but hasn’t had as many opportunities this term.
This is despite some unconvincing form from fellow attackers Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, who have in truth looked lucky to keep their places in Zinedine Zidane’s side.
Asensio looks a player who could shine at the Etihad Stadium, with Guardiola a fan of similarly small, technical and intelligent midfielders like him.
