An outstanding goal from Willian salvaged a point for Chelsea against Liverpool this evening with the Brazilian’s effort sealing a 1-1 draw at Anfield.
Mohammed Salah had put Liverpool ahead on the 65th minute with Jurgen Klopp’s controversial decisions looking as though they would pay off.
Klopp opted to leave Roberto Firmino and Saido Mane on the bench and instead started Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The decisions received a mixed reaction from Liverpool fans but it looked to have been a perfect choice from Klopp with Liverpool leading Chelsea into the last ten minutes of the game.
The Brazilian Willian has struggled under Antonio Conte despite being a favourite three years ago under Jose Mourinho. Pedro and Eden Hazard are often preferred to the Brazilian by Conte who also now prefers to field a narrow formation allowing no space for the winger.
However, Willian was introduced to the Anfield crowd on the 83rd minute and made an instant impact.
Picking up the ball 30 yards from goal, the Brazilian drifted into the right-channel before executing a superb chip over Simon Mignolet.
Willian was the saviour for the Blues today, but one question on everyone’s lips is whether it was a shot or a cross?
