Arsenal team news: Negative Wenger update as key absentee could miss Huddersfield game

Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil was a late withdrawal at the weekend, and Arsene Wenger has conceded that he might be at risk of being absent in midweek too.

It would have been a disappointing blow for the Gunners to be without Ozil at the weekend, as the German international would have undoubtedly hoped to build some momentum after his impressive display in the north London derby win over Tottenham the week before.

However, he was forced to travel back to London with an illness just hours before kick-off and missed the win over Burnley, as Arsenal were able to return home with all three points thanks to a late Alexis Sanchez winner.

Nevertheless, especially in these type of games when Arsenal come up against organised sides who are difficult to break down, they could certainly do with Ozil available given his quality on the ball and ability to find a bit of creative class in the final third.

Unfortunately for them it sounds as though they’ll have to do without the 29-year-old against Huddersfield when they travel to the Emirates on Wednesday night, with Wenger painting a pretty gloomy picture of the situation, as seen below.

It comes at a bad time for the Gunners in general too as they have put together a decent run of form to move back into the top four in the Premier League and will be hoping to now push on and put real pressure on those around them.
